Seth

APPEARANCE: Generally sporting a disheveled look as well as tend to keep their neck area as loose as possible, as he really dislikes anything around his neck.

PERSONALITY:

Seth has a resting poker face, and coupled with the aloof vibe he tends to give, most people find it hard to read what he’s thinking. Seth has an idea that that's the reason why he’s not generally approached by people, but he doesn’t mind. He doesn’t wanna engage in what he considers pointless chatter, doesn’t want to give people the wrong idea by being fake. He can be polite if he wants, but he prefers being frank and honest with people. He comes off as rude, even if he’s not trying to be rude, and so people usually go away after a few minutes.

Seth has always felt that there’s a wall between himself and others, and he knows this wall is his own creation. He considers himself very average when he compares himself with others, and as someone who thought he was a little smart, realizing he was as normal as everyone else, his confidence took a hit. He became discouraged with keeping up appearances and works hard on keeping up with everyone.

Seth is very strict with himself and works hard. He refuses to be the weakest link in the group, so when he fails at something, he tends to be really hard on himself. He uses his serious studying as an excuse to not interact with the people around him and keeps to himself. His expectations over his own performance tends to be higher than anyone else’s. He doesn’t hold the same level of expectations on everyone else, however, believing that other people don’t struggle as hard as he does.

When he’s not working hard, Seth tends to laze around and sleep, but often feels guilty for this. He knows deep within himself that he’s struggling with something that he’s scared to name, fully believes he’s got no right to justify a reason for the dark thoughts and general pathetic feelings that plague him. He led a happy enough childhood, therefore he’s got no reason for the tiredness and numbness he sometimes feels.

Despite his grim outlook on life and people, Seth can be easily influenced by people with high energy. He does not reflect the same energy, but he tends to grow more comfortable around them and becomes less cold and tense. When he’s feeling great and has a good day, Seth can even make a few jokes- tho they tend to be sassy in nature. If someone’s hurt by this, however, he easily gets discouraged from interacting and making jokes around that person.  

If Seth could change something about himself, it would be his entire life. He would like to be smarter, friendly, and more well liked by his peers and someone easier to get along. He does get jealous by how other kids can easily make friends, or easily express their emotions. Thoughts like these make him feel like he’s even more of a loser and his cycle of self-hate begins anew.

LANGUAGES SPOKEN: Spanish and English, fully fluent in both but has a preference of english.

PATRONUS: He cannot cast a Patronus, but if he could it would probably resemble a feline.

SKILLS: No skills he's aware of, except maybe blending into a crowd. Has great skill for games but he doesn't divulge this to people because he's already a loser, don't need to be called a nerd too.

• Carmen Haydee Rosado Betancourt, Half blood, 40. Mediwitch. Grew up in Florida and went to Ilvermorny where she met Seth’s father. Always had an affinity with healing magic.

• Alan Picklesmire, Half Blood, 41, Mediwizard. Both his parents were halfblood, Grew up in Canada.

• Xiomara Emilia Ayala Ferrer, Pureblood, Great grandmother, 90. A woman who practiced a sort of Native magic that Seth was never allowed to be near/watch.

• Luisa Patricia Betancourt Ayala, Half blood, Grandmother, 68, ex-Muggle Relations. Retired.

• Sara Samantha Rosado Betancourt, Half blood, Aunt, 42, Magizoologist. Very big in protecting natural environments for animals, tends to participates in any and all protests against the government.

YEAR: Sophomore

HOUSE: Azurcrest

SORTING: He remembers cracking a twitter joke that he was pretty sure Azurcrest wouldn’t like, but to his surprise Azurcrest was the most vocal about him benefiting from his house. He tried to explain he didn’t generally or at all made jokes, but it wouldn’t sway- it knew Seth could benefit the most at his house and chose him.

CLASSES: Charms, Potions, Hermeticism, History of Magic, Transfigurations, Artificing, Magical Rudiments, Aesthetic Magic.

ADVANCED STUDY:   He one day will have the guts to take Muggle Studies, as he feels he could easily pass the class due to his background, but knows that he will fall prey to any game online and lose his focus on studies. None.

SENIOR PROJECT: they have no idea what it’ll be and there’s a big chance it will be something last minute.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE:
Tends to keep low A’s and high B's, could be higher if he didn’t sleep so much.
His best subject Hermeticsm, he finds the process and science of spells and magic to be simply fascinating, he's sure with a little more imagination he could do better in it.
His worst class is History of Magic, while he is sure if he applied a little more memorization, he could do better, but finds it hard to do because how little he cares about this class beyond the grades of his tests.
